My Birthday Lens!! - The "Dream Lens".

SoCal Camera Style caught me out and about yesterday with my new lens.

SoCal Camera Style caught me out and about yesterday with my new lens.

I decided to get myself a nice 40th Birthday Present.  I've been scoping this lens for a long time and then a friend of mine was raving abut it.  The so-called "Dream Lens".  Made by Canon and retrofit for the Leica Mount.  Its truly a dream to shot with.  The shallow depth, clarity in focus and painterly soft bokeh are wild.

Keep an eye out for that milky soft background and sharp subject, it's likely shot with this lens.

Great article by Joseph Gamble

"The phrase “go big or go home” seems to take on a special significance with photographer Dennis Manarchy. Obsessed with the concept of scale and the possibilities of working with massive negatives to create portrait images more than two stories high, he and his team have created a 35-foot view camera, the world’s largest film camera. The project, nicknamed “Butterflies and Buffalo”, aims to use the traveling view camera as a conduit for documenting more than 50 of the unique cultures in America."

Kevin LCK's Amazing Cardboard Devices

From Kevin's Site featuring his incredible craftsmanship.  Truly Inspiring.

" 'Ordinary Behavior' is a project about the unhealthy relationship between human and technology in an everyday context. I have created a set of five illustrative objects as the tools of revealing the absurd situations. They are all made of paper cardboard and appear to be everyday electronic appliances and devices that can be found in our domestic environment, however, their interiors are modified i nto miniaturized human scaled space. I seeked to detach the audience from the real world temporarily, provide them with a space to rethink and reconsider the way we behave and think about the relationship between ourselves, objects and environment with technology in a more conscious way."
